posted by Steph on 2011.12.27 , under Bike Porn, Commuting, Custom Build, Fixed Gear, New Product

We all want to ride the best whip without the biggest price tag.

A lot of people come into the shop and ask us how inexpensive is the least expensive custom build. Normally we just ball park some number give or take two benjamins, but a few days ago, we decided to ACTUALIZE this price tag:

Internet friends, meet your new bicycle. Pake custom build pricing out at $899.99

You’re usually stuck with frame decals, these come off easily. No fret, no frustration.

We have this 55 cm fixed brakeless bicycle in our window right now, stop by to see how it rides!

Well, so Summer’s done…and Winter’s here. Which means hot cider, ginger and pumpkin everything and well…lots and lots of layers.

A lot of people come into the shop for advice about winter commuting.

One of the most important components to winter commuting is a pair of good gloves:

Our line of gloves in a variety of thicknesses and sizes!

Gore Bike Wear Phanton II gloves. Winstopper Soft Shell, palm with synthetic leather, elasticated hemline and fleece lining.

Pearl Izumi Select Softshell Glove, with fleece lining, fleece wiping surface on the thumb for runny noses and silicone screened palm for optimal gripping.

Gore Bike Wear Radiator gloves. Windstopper soft shell, silicone coated fingertips, gel padding in the palm of the hand for better grip, absorbent material on thumb and reflectors.

Pearl Izumi light softshell glove, for the occasional fall day we’ll be having during the next few months. Super light softshell material and thermal lite fabric in the palm to make an efficient cool weather glove.

Pearl Izumi Elite Softshell glove. Wind and water protection, Primaloft insulation, Clarino synthetic leather palm (VEGAN FRIENDLY GUYS!!!) and gel padding.

Stop by to get your winter stuff before the weather gets truly brutal!

Portland Design Works: Lights now in stock!

posted by Jason on 2011.11.02 , under Commuting, Design, New Product

We just got in a big shipment of lights from Portland Design Works just in time for winter riding. We’ll be changing our clocks in a just a few days which means it will be dark before you leave work. Stay safe out there by making your self visible. PDW has a large selection of great lights that are sure to make you seen on your commute.

“The spaceship headlight cuts through the darkness of space by blasting a brilliant Japanese LED through a special German-engineered lens. The top window lights up blue for added style points. It will withstand rain showers and meteor showers and has a run time of over 100 hours.”

“The RADBOT 1000 has one directive: to defend you and your bike from rear collisions. It comes equipped with a precision reflector that conforms to strict EU standards and its blazing red eye contains a 1.0 watt Japanese LED to stare down vehicles. This is the same powerful LED used in the brake lights of new cars!”

“The Danger Zone taillight keeps you visible and safe when the sun sets. It uses two 0.5 watt Japanese LEDs to blast powerful light beams into the night and keep bogeys off your tail.”

“The cosmic dreadnought 110 headlight lights up the darkest corners of space so you can maintain cruising speed without fear of potholes or broken bottles. Its secret weapon is the Cree XPE LED, which puts out an incredible 110 lumens of light. Built to withstand rain and meteor showers with run times of 10 hours on high, 15 hours on low and 25 hours on flash mode.”

The RADBOT 500 comes equipped with a precision reflector that conforms to strict EU standards and its blazing red eye contains a 0.5 watt japanese LED to stare down vehicles. Both lights are built to withstand rain and meteor showers to keep you safe from blastoff to touchdown in all conditions.”

Winter is coming!

It has been a pretty gross day outside starting with a very cold rain and now turning into a snowy slush. We have been holding it down though here at the shop and greeting our brave customers with a little heat and a vita coco from the fridge. Most people are coming in for lights, gloves, and jackets, which are all a must have for riding in this weather. Good luck our there everyone.
Here are some photos I shot in the shop today. I really like the light in the shop during a gloomy day.
