Beast of the East–Philly

From the website:
“The Beast of the East will be a weekend long event celebrating the bike courier culture. Expect a wide verity of all the favorite alley cats, lots of partying, all the weirdest side events we can think of. There will be 7 races during the weekend, each race will earn participants points. The rider with the most points at the end will be crowned the Beast Of the East. And after all that is done we will hop on our bikes and take a 3 day 280 mile trip down route 1 to Richmond, VA for the 2012 NACCC.”

After putting in a bunch of miles on our Sprint Prototype I finally decided it was time to build myself one. I had one painted in sky blue metallic and I am really happy with how it turned out. The metallic flake is very understated but when the sun hits it, it really shines! I decided on black components to offset the light hue of the frame and I think the contrast really works, and it helps the gum wall tires pop. I have been commuting on it a few days now and I am super stoked with it. I went with some larger than average tires because of the number of horrible roads on my commute and the stiff frame and larger tires really work well to give an efficient buy comfortable ride. To fit the larger tires I used the standard brake hole fork, but had it plugged before it was painted. Well here is the components breakdown.

If you remember from our last batch of Superb Sprint frames we did a special edition frameset in Kawasaki Green with a sparkle clear coat. Antonio from NYC snatched up the frame and has been carefully curating a build kit over the past few months and finally finished it up. Hands down this is one of the most beautiful builds done to date, and it gets me so stoked to see people building these up so cleanly and really enjoying them! Antonio built his up as a single speed and used some amazing NOS Dura Ace parts that really shine!
Here is what Antonio has to say about it along with the parts spec from his Flickr Site. Check out his flickr for more photos and super High Res!

There has been a lot of anticipation around this batch of Sprint Frames. It is our largest batch yet thanks to the amount of pre-orders we have had and how quickly the last batch ran out the door. A lot of the order has already been spoken for and frames will be shipped off to customers all over the world as soon as they are arrive here. There are still some left for stock, so if you have been thinking about grabbing a new frame this spring, now is the time! We will have raw polished silver and matte black frames, there might even be one or two special editions! The frames are in transit from our builder and should be here thursday april 5th or friday the 6th.

If you remember last year when Brooks and Vans released their saddle and shoe collaboration last year, here’s your lucky chance to still grab one! We have 2 lucky Brooks x Vans Team Pro saddles left in stock from the collaboration. Only 500 saddles were made and if you regret not having gotten one or thought they were sold out, you can grab #167 or #174!
