In store currently we have on consignment, Chris Igleheart’s custom 3 speed fixed gear bicycle. You may wonder what the hell is a 3 speed fixed gear? Sturmey Archer developed this internal fixed gear hub  and actually had Igleheart build up a bicycle inspired by it. The mechanisms are all the same as a traditional internal hub and you can even throw on a different cog to convert it into a coasting 3 speed. Igleheart’s vision of this 3 speed fixed gear comes with cruiser bars, a set of Paul cantilever breaks, a front rack, IRD classic crankset, Brooks leather saddle, and all the eyelets in the world for you to mount whatever your heart desires on this bike. Andres’ Custom Igleheart

We just finished a great build for our friend Andres that started back in July. Andres wanted a custom locally made frame and after checking out all the amazing local builders decided on an Igleheart. Andres and I went up to Chris Iglehearts shop in Wenham MA in late July for a fitting and to discuss the details of the frame.

Chris used to work for Fat City Cycles and still has a lot of mementos from those days, he is even still using Fat City Team Grease!

And there are frame building parts everywhere, you can imagine the amount you would accumulate in 30 years of frame building.

After Chris finished the frame it was time to decide on paint. Andres decided on Ferrari red and we had it painted up locally by our pro painter Chris Rowe. Back in Superb we accumulated all the parts Andres decided on for the build and got ready to put it all together. This build consisted of Paul Components Cranks, hubs and brake lever, VO rims, pedals, cages, and seatpost, Brooks Saddle, Bar tape, and toe straps, Chris King Headset, 3ttt stem, Soma Bars, EAI superstar cog, and Panaracer tires.

And the finished build. We didn’t complete it until 6pm last night and with no natural light we had to use a bike headlight to get some photos.

Chris Butters Custom Superb X Igleheart

We just finished a new build in Superb colors for Butters. He built this one up right with Nitto, Campagnolo, Velocity and Chris King parts, it is even sporting our Superb Hubs! The frame is one from our collaboration with Igleheart made right here in Massachusetts. You’ll see it downtown as it is Butters new work bike!

2011 Cinelli Gazzetta della Strada

Cinelli is releasing an affordable road bike to their stable for 2011. The Gazzetta della Strada is based off the popular Gazzetta from 2010 but this one is built as a geared road bike instead of single speed or fixed. It is aimed directly at the urban rider who commutes or goes out on longer distance road rides but doesn’t need race level parts or carbon fiber. The frame is made out of double butted Columbus tubes and can be bought frame only for custom builds or bought as a complete with Cinelli and Shimano components. No word on pricing yet, but it sounds like there will be 3 color options. We’ll keep you updated as we get more info and maybe start a pre-order in the near future.
