Embrocation Vol 6: In Stock!

posted by Jason on 2010.11.22 , under Art, New Product, Photography, Press

We recently received our stack of Embrocation Vol 6 and were pretty excited seeing that it features our little bike shop as well as some other local cycling enthusiasts. You’ll have to stop by to get the full story but here are a few teaser shots to wet your appetite. As always Embrocation doesn’t disappoint with beautiful photos and well written articles.

NAHBS : Day 2

posted by Jason on 2010.02.27 , under Photography

Day 2 at NAHBS was a blast, there were 5 times as many people at the show and the streets around the convention center were littered with as many awesome bikes as were held inside the showroom. Early in the day it was so crowded it was hard to even walk around let alone grab pictures so I waited till the end of the day to grab some shots of some of the real stand out bikes I missed yesterday.

This Peacock Groove 29er was catching everyone’s attention with it’s 24K Gold plating. Not only that but it also has a carved out seat tube to really jam the rear tire in to keep this 29ers wheelbase less than than a 26″ mountain bike.

And obviously it is all in the details.

Moots had this killer Snow Bike that I can’t even imagine how fun it would be to ride around an arctic tundra, or maybe Boston right after a blizzard.

Villin had me coming back to their booth over and over because their bikes were really that nice. This one in particular was made using hand made steel pieces. Just beautiful.

Detail of the hand crafted steel, looks kind of like a topographical map.

Of course I spent some time hanging out with my good friend Jeremy Dunn, former Cambridge Bicycle Employee, now of Embrocation Cycling Journal and Rapha Fame. Both booths looked fantastic!

And here he is pointing out one of his favorite embrocations.

Independent Fabrications, had an amazing booth set up and their bikes were so nice that I saw another bike builder who copied their lug design, I am not about to name names, but you know who you are. Imitation is the highest form of flattery and if you are going to imitate someone , IF is a good choice.

Here is Marty hammin it up in the Geekhouse Booth wearing his super geeky Spock outfit.

Well that is it from me for now, I have a lot of driving ahead of me, but will hopefully have more for you when I make it back to Boston! If you ever have the chance to make it to NAHBS I highly recommend it, it is a fun and inexpensive way to learn a ton about the bike industry from the people who are actually getting their hands dirty.

Superb is Buzzing this Week!

posted by Jason on 2009.11.18 , under Art, Press, Shop Visits

We have been gathering a lot of press this week, so if you missed any of this, go check it out.

First our favorite Boston Female cyclist blogger (Kaiko..duh) did a nice little write up of her stop by the shop last Friday. While you are over there check out the nice pics of her Track bike, it is looking pretty good!

Then Trackosaurus posted up some goodness of our Art Opening coming up on December 4th (6-8pm). Did you see the video up there today? Backwards wheelie? whoda thunk, not sure I believe that one though.

Today one of my best buds, Jeremy Dunn of Embrocation Cycling Journal posted up his first trip through Superb as well as some of our after hours antics, so make sure to stop by and check that out, maybe buy yourself some embrocation while you are over there, it is getting cold, it might help you on your commute this winter, or maybe not?

And lastly we were interviewed this morning by our favorite Boston weekly Paper, the article should be out next week so we’ll keep you posted!

Rapha Silk Scarf…gets around

posted by Jason on 2009.07.03 , under Apparel, Fashion, Photography

Scandalous….its all I can say about this whole Rapha Scarf phenomenon. It takes seemingly pure individuals and pulls them deep into the underbelly of internet exhibitionism. Not that I am complaining, actually it is quite exciting. If anything we need more of this sort of thing.

First spotted over on my boys Dunners blog, Embrocation Cycling Journal. Jeremy taught us all how to properly wear our Rapha Scarves.

Then today I find this over at my girl Kaiko’s blog, Pedal Strike. No offense Jeremy but for some reason, that I can’t put my finger on, this is even more exciting. Somehow comparing a scarf to “a million soft kisses” is really working for me. I think I might have to get one.
