posted by Wei Wei on 2011.11.04 , under DIY, Press, Review

Every year the Weekly Dig ask you the people to vote on your favorite shops. This year we are under the category  “Bike Shop: Custom & Vintage”. It’s nice they are making a delineation of how different some shops can be! We appreciate all our riders, customers, and friends, please help support us by voting online today! Especially today, since it is the last day for voting! If your feeling extra sweet, don’t forget to show our sister shop Cambridge Bicycle a little love in the “Best Bike Shop” section.

We just finished a great custom build for Rebecca. This is an amazing locally built Igleheart made exclusively for Superb. Rebecca chose the paint color and it was applied over at Sugarcoat in Allston. Our mechanic Tom handbuilt the Phil Wood to Velocity wheels. Other build highlights include Chris King headset, Nitto stem, seatpost and handlebars, San Marco Rolls saddle, IRD cranks, Paul brake lever, and Continental Gatorskin tires. Rebecca was pretty stoked when she came to pick it up. She is heading to Edinburgh next week and is taking it with her.

As I have been talking about, almost non stop recently, Geekhouse built me a custom frame. Marty and I have been working on this for over 3 months now and I am just counting the days until I can actually ride it. It all started when I stopped over to Geekhouse to order up a frame for the shop and I ran my idea for a frame past Marty. Surprisingly Marty said, yeah we can do that. So the concept for my personal Geekhouse was born, and sadly the Geekhouse for the shop was placed on the backburner. It was only a week or so later when Marty asked me how I would feel about my bike being placed in the NAHBS, to which I replied, that is a capital idea. One of the best things about having your bike in the Handmade bicycle show is that people take amazing photos of it, and the great people at Urban Velo took a lot of nice photos of mine, so here they are. Look forward to a more detailed write up when we get back to Boston as well as an interview with Marty himself. I also want to send out a big thanks to Tom Estrada, our mechanic at Superb, for hand building the American Classic wheelset at the 11th hour!
